UAE announces 45 new Coronavirus cases, total number stands at 198
UAE Government announced 45 new Coronavirus cases, with people from various nationalities testing positive. The total number of infected cases in UAE now stands at 198 with recovery of 41 people. UAE spokesperson Dr Farida Al Hosani stated that one of the cases was a person who returned from abroad but didn’t quarantine, spreading the virus to seventeen other people.
UAE’s Ducab Group reports 5% increase in 2019 profits
Ducab Group, the manufacturer of high-performance cables, recorded a 5% gain in 2019 profits. The company owned by Dubai and Abu Dhabi governments, operates six manufacturing plants across UAE, with capacity of 115,000 metal tonnes of cable solutions. Ducab Chairman said that its 40th anniversary saw its position as a leading manufacturer in UAE, with Ducab products being used in more than 30 countries.
Etihad Airways issues updated travel advisory, new restrictions imposed
UAE based Etihad airlines have issued a travel advisory update amid Coronavirus. The update states that only UAE citizens or diplomatic passport holders are allowed to travel to UAE from abroad, only if their destination is Abu Dhabi. People on connecting flights ahead from Abu Dhabi will not be allowed to travel further, and guests within UAE can still leave Abu Dhabi till 25 March 2020.
DEWA encourages people to turn off electricity during Earth Hour
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) urges people to show support for Earth by turning off unnecessary lights and electric appliances during Earth Hour. DEWA will observe Earth Hour from 20:30 to 21:30 on Saturday, 28 March 2020. This year’s theme is ‘Raise your voice for nature’, and Dubai’s prominent landmarks and several public and private buildings will participate by turning off their lights during this time.
Sharjah Municipality exempts public users from parking fees
Sharjah City Municipality has announced that it will exempt the public parking users from parking fees due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. The announcement, effective from 23 March 2020 until further notice, is in line with precautionary measures.
