China Coronavirus death toll jumps to 4,632

The Chinese city of Wuhan, epicentre of Coronavirus outbreak has revised its death toll from the pandemic by 1,290 fatalities. The new addition also pushed China's national tally to reach 4,632. This comes as western nations led by US are questioning China over increasing transparency about the pandemic. China claimed that the misreported figures were due to data inefficiency and miscalculations.

New York’s ‘Stay at Home’ order extended to 15 May 2020

New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Thursday, 16 April 2020, that the state's stay-at-home order will be extended until at least 15 May 2020. Cuomo stated that limits on non-essential activities could extend beyond 15 May. He warned that any behavioral changes could ignite the outbreak again, urging people to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

COVID-19 case doubling rate in India dipped to 6.2 days post lockdown

India’s doubling rate of COVID-19 positive cases has taken a dip and currently stands at 6.2 days instead of the earlier 3 days, the Union Health Ministry said in a recent briefing. Doubling rate in 19 states and union territories was also found to be lower than average doubling rate. The country has reported over 13,500 cases of Coronavirus infection.

NASA: Expedition 62 crew returns to Earth after 200+ days in space

Russian cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka and NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Andrew Morgan returned from International Space Station (ISS) and landed safely on Earth in Kazakhstan. All three space explorers were part of the Expedition 62 aboard the ISS. Skripochka and Meir arrived at the space station in September of last year, while Morgan had been working at the ISS since July 2019.
